BowMeow POSTPONED

Auctions and Appies POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

On Saturday April 18 the Animal Helpline will be holding its BowMeow Auctions and Appies fundraiser.  Join us for a delightful spring evening of live and silent auctions and loonie/toonie draws along with savory refreshments at the charming Dixon Entrance Maritime Museum at 2182 Collison Ave. in Masset.  Admission is $5.00 at the door and starts at 7pm. Money from this fundraiser will be used for companion animal rescue in the greater Massett area. The Animal Helpline is a volunteer organization and all money raised is used for the care of lost, abandoned, and surrendered companion animals (food, medication, vet services). The Animal Helpline would appreciate any donations that could be used in the live and silent auctions. Business Façade Improvement Funding

Business Façade Improvement Funding is again available.  Does your building need a facelift, or were you planning improvements to the exterior of your building?  You may be eligible for up to $5,000.00 in grant funding.  Smaller home based businesses are eligible for funding for signage as well up to $500.00.  Stop by the Village Office for a program guide and application.

Siting and Use Application and Permit

Spring is here so before you get busy and start a new project please take note that the Village of Masset has bylaws in place to ensure that zoning and land use regulations are being adhered to by way of a Siting and Use Permit.  Please visit the village office to pick up a Siting and Use Application and review the Zoning Bylaw before you start construction.  There is no cost for the application and permit.

 

Northern Haida Gwaii Visitor Centre

The visitor centre is now closed.  If you have business brochures they can be dropped off at the Village of Masset Office.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

 

BC Assessment Notices

Keep your eyes open for the BC Property Assessment notices.  The assessment is based on July 1, of the previous year’s market values.  For more information on how assessments are determined please contact 1-866-825-8322.  You can also get more information regarding this issue online at www.bcassessment.ca.

 

Business License Renewal

Business License Fees are now due for 2020.  If you are paying online or at the Credit Union please notify the office to ensure that your payment is applied to the correct account. If you no longer require a business license please call the office at 250-626-3995. You must ensure you have a valid license to practice within Masset boundaries as per bylaw #575.

 

Batteries

Bring your old batteries to the village office during business hours for safe disposal and help to keep them out of the landfill.

 

Utilities Note for Seniors

If you are 65 yrs. or older please let us know, the Village of Masset offers a seniors rate for utilities.  Come in to the office with your proof of age for us to apply this lower rate to you.

Please come in to the Village Office 1686 Main Street to schedule a time and pay for items to be picked up.

Cost: $10.00 per regular pick-up load.

Note: all items must be sorted (burnable, metals, lawn debris, no kitchen refuse please) and placed at the curb or property line.

There will be additional costs for:

Appliances: (w/o CFC’s)------$  8.00

Appliances: (with CFC’s)-----$25.00

Tires (standard) ----------------$  4.00

Tires (oversize)-----------------$  9.00

Tires (w/rim)---------------------$12.00
