UTILITY AND PROPERTY TAX BALANCES

Please be advised that any outstanding amounts on your utility account as of December 31, 2021 have been transferred to your property taxes as arrears and will be accruing interest.

*This includes people who have automatic transfers set up from NSCU.

 

BC ASSESSMENT NOTICES

WATER MAINS

Public Works staff will be flushing water mains for approximately 3 weeks from mid-March to mid-April. During this time lower pressure may be experienced during the daytime from approximately 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. If your water is discoloured please run your cold taps full blast until it clears up. This should take not more than 10 to 15 minutes.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL

Business Licenses are now due for 2022.  If you are paying online or at the Credit Union, please notify the office to ensure that your payment is applied to the correct account. 
If you no longer require a business license, please call the office at 250-626-3995.

 

RECYCLING

The Masset Recycling Depot is located at 1730 Hodges Avenue.

Hours of operation are Thursday to Saturday 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, closed from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and Stat Holidays.

GARBAGE PICKUP

A reminder to all residents in order to avoid messes and encounters with wildlife please ensure your garbage is secured in an appropriate receptacle and left at the curb on pickup days.

 

RODENTS

The Village of Masset has free rat traps available to all residents of Masset. Please drop by to pick up your traps.

 

BATTERIES

Bring your old batteries to the Village Office during business hours for safe disposal and help to keep them out of the landfill.

 

MASSET SPRING CLEANUP

Monday May 16 to Thursday May 19

Please come into the Village Office 1686 Main Street to schedule a time and pay for items to be picked up.

Cost:  $12.00 per regular pick-up load

Note: All items must be sorted (burnable, metals, lawn debris, no kitchen refuse please) and placed at the curb or property line. Lumber and brush must be separated.

BUSINESS FAƇADE IMPROVEMENT FUNDING

Business Façade Improvement Funding is again available. Does your building need a facelift, or were you planning improvements to the exterior of your building? You may be eligible for up to $5,000.00 in grant funding. Smaller home based businesses are eligible for funding for signage as well up to $500.00.

BUILDING BYLAW No. 630

Siting and Use Application and Permit

Spring is here so before you get busy and start a new project please take note that the Village of Masset has bylaws in place to ensure that zoning and land use regulations are being adhered to by way of a Siting and Use Permit.  Please visit the Village Office to pick up a Siting and Use Application and review the Zoning Bylaw before you start construction.  There is no cost for the application and permit.

 

NOTE FOR SENIORS

If you are 65 yrs. or older please let us know, the Village of Masset offers a seniors rate for utilities.  Proof of age is required for us to apply this lower rate.

 

NORTHERN HAIDA GWAII VISITOR CENTRE

The visitor centre is now closed. Please call the Village of Masset Office at 250-626-3995 if you have questions. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
