PROPERTY TAX NOTICES

Property Tax Notices will be mail mid-May 2021.

The property tax deadline is Friday July 02, 2021.  A penalty of 10% for any current year taxes owing after the deadline will be applied.  Postmarks are not accepted as proof of payment.

Payment options include:

1)  At the Village of Masset Office, cash or cheque only or use the drop box.

2)  Mailed to P.O. Box 68 Masset B.C.   VOT 1M0

3)  Couriered to 1686 Main Street Masset   B.C. V0T 1M0

4)  Online Payments can be made if you have an account with Northern Savings Credit Union.

5)  Electronic funds transfers can be made from your financial institution to the Northern Savings Credit Union.             

The Village of Masset account information is:

- Account Number   30002777-1 (Chequing)  

If you do use this process, please either fax to (250) 626-3968, email cfo@mhtv.ca  or call us at (250) 626-3995 with information  regarding the amount of your payment, date of your transfer, your roll number and the institution the transfer was sent from to ensure that we can properly identify your payment and apply it correctly to your account.

6)  e-Transfer payments are acceptable.  Contact the office to get the information needed.

Please note that we accept only cash or cheque for property tax payments.  Postdated cheques are acceptable.  We do not accept debit or credit card payments.       

HOME OWNER GRANT 2021

Starting May 2021, you will apply for your homeowner grant with the Province.

Municipalities are NO LONGER accepting applications.  Program eligibility is unchanged.

In order to avoid penalties and interest, apply before the tax due date, starting May 2021.

MASSET SPRING CLEANUP

Monday May 17 to Thursday May 20

Please come into the Village Office 1686 Main Street to schedule a time and pay for items to be picked up.

Cost:  $12.00 per regular pick-up load

Note: All items must be sorted (burnable, metals, lawn debris, (no kitchen refuse please) and placed at the curb or property line. Lumber and brush must be separated.

UTILITY AND PROPERTY TAX BALANCES

Please be advised that any outstanding amounts on your utility account as of December 31, 2020 have been transferred to your property taxes as arrears and will be accumulating interest.

BUSINESS FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT FUNDING

Business Façade Improvement Funding is again available.  Does your building need a facelift, or were you planning improvements to the exterior of your building?  You may be eligible for up to $5,000.00 in grant funding.  Smaller home based businesses are eligible for funding for signage as well up to $500.00.  Stop by the Village Office for a program guide and application.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL

Business License Fees are now due for 2021.  If you are paying online or at the Credit Union, please notify the office to ensure that your payment is applied to the correct account. 

If you no longer require a business license, please call the office at 250-626-3995.

NORTHERN HAIDA GWAII VISITOR CENTRE

The visitor centre is now closed.

Please call the Village of Masset office at 250-626-3995 if you have questions.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

NOTE FOR SENIORS

If you are 65 years or older please let us know, the Village of Masset offers a seniors rate for utilities.  Proof of age is required for us to apply this lower rate.

VILLAGE OF MASSET OFFICE

The Village of Masset office is now open to walk in traffic.  Please help us by using the drop box located to the left of the door for payments if possible.  Service is limited to two customers inside at a time.
