Utility Invoices

Please be advised that on January 1, 2020, any outstanding amounts on your utility account as of December 31, 2019 will be transferred to your property taxes as arrears and will be accumulating interest.  This includes those with automatic transfers set up with NSCU.  If you have not changed your transfer amount you will have an outstanding balance.

Note for Seniors

If you are 65 or older please let us know, the Village of Masset offers a seniors rate for utilities.  Come in to the office with your proof of age for us to apply this lower rate to you.

Northern Haida Gwaii Visitor Centre

The visitor centre is now closed.  If you have business brochures they can be dropped off at the Village of Masset Office.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Remembrance Day

The Ceremony will be on Monday November 11, 10:45am at Howard Phillips Community Hall followed by a parade to the Cenotaph and refreshments.  All are welcome.

Gwaii Trust Christmas Allocation Fund

Graham Island North has initiated a change to how funding from the Gwaii Trust Christmas Allocation Fund is distributed to our residents of Masset and Tow Hill.  We are working with a small group of local businesses which are accessible and practical for our residents and in lieu of turkeys we are offering a $25.00 gift card for each household.  Each gift card will be issued by the Village of Masset on behalf of the business of your choice.  The businesses are as follows:  Co-op, Fields, Causeway Convenience and Home Hardware.  The cards will be available through the Village Office upon residents’ registration.  You can call 250-626-3995 or drop by the Village of Masset Office to register.  Registration dates are weekdays Monday October 28 to Friday November 22, 9am to 4pm  and pickup dates will be announced later.  We hope this will help to usher in the holiday season and we look forward to seeing you at the Village Office.

The Dixon Entrance Maritime Museum Social and Auctions

The Dixon Entrance Maritime Museum Annual Christmas Social & Auctions will be held at the museum, 2182 Collison Ave. in Masset on Saturday November 16 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

GwaiiTel Society

Our Mandate: To facilitate the availability and delivery of affordable broadband Internet services to residential and commercial customers on Haida Gwaii. Through investment in the installation and operation of broadband network infrastructure, and the aggregation of internet traffic to maximize purchasing power for connectivity to the public Internet.

We are looking for you to help us steer this volunteer run, non-profit society

Internet access is important to the health of our communities and we need strong individuals to assist GwaiiTel in continuing to improve access to high speed Internet on Haida Gwaii
